Tutorial: How to Mod your Boot Screen

[1]Go into app manager, search for OpenSSH Client and Server, install

[2]The installation will prompt you to put in a password (choose something easy to remember)

[3]Install "rootsh"

[4]Go to your computer, download a free SSH client such as winscp
(http://winscp.net/eng/download.php#download2)

[5]Go back to N900, open X Terminal, type "sudo gainroot"

[6]Now, type "ifconfig" a lot of data will be shown. Scroll through this data until you find "inet addr:" The number should start with "192.168"
(N900 MUST be connected to a WLAN network)

[7]Open winscp on your computer and log in like this:

The password should be the password you set up at the installation on N900 and the User name is root

[8]In winscp, look for /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media folder.(you may have to click the back button once)

[9]Copy your boot video from pc into that folder.

[10]Once copied, go to /etc/hildon-welcome.d/

[11]Copy default.conf to your desktop and open the file in note pad and edit the text to
[hildon-welcome]
filename=yourfilename.avi

Obviously, replace "yourfilename" to whatever your video is called.

[12]Save the file and copy back to /etc/hildon-welcome.d/

[13]Disconnect and reboot your N900.

Thats it, done.
Enjoy your new boot video.

You can do it on the device itself with a good file manager like homunculus with root access
