This tutorial explanes how to flash your branded BB5 nokia to generic firmware using the nokia software updater from nokia, With this tutorial you will be able to upgrade your Nokia from any country.

Software needed: JAF, Pkey emulator and nokia software updater.

Download JAF HERE

Download JAF Pkey emulator HERE

Downlaod NSU (nokia software updater) HERE

1. Install NSU
2. Install JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe (on installation select NO to use drivers)
3. Connect your phone through USB cable
4. On phones screen select PC suite mode
5. Let PC install the drivers
6. Double click on OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe on your desktop (vista users right click and select run as administrator)
7. Press GO button on the top right corner

8. JAF will open, if you get a box error just press OK.
9. On main view at top select the BB5 tab, then in Service Settings tick Prod. Manager,
then on the right side in Operations press SERVICE.

10. The service window will open, click Read Values and the devices Product Code will show
in the top box, change it to a generic product code that matches the device you want to flash.
(e.g. if your flashing a nokia n85, you must ONLY use a nokia n85 product code)
11. Once the Product code is changed press Write Values.

12. Close the Service box and in the main JAF window you should see Done!

13. If everything went ok, you can now exit JAF.
14. Run NSU (nokia software updater) and press START then NEXT
15. Tick the box at the top then click UPDATE, the device will be updated and debranded.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR DEVICE GETS DAMAGED.

I think somewhere in the tut for jaf you should mention that vista users need to run as administrator by right clicking in the icon then run as administrator
